The Lila Star Journal, Issue #004 -- Women and The Moon
November 16, 2004
Hi * Everybody *

Women and the Moon

As our ancestors have known, as the moon has the power to move the waters of our worlds oceans so it has also great influence upon all living beings on this earth. Especially as a woman I feel connected to the everchanging moon cycle, emotions, moods, behaviours and impulses are uniquely affected by it.

Mood swings, instinct, how we feel about things, and how our feelings affect others, are all influenced by the Moon.
There is a saying that

"the sun gives me my spirit,
but it's the Moon which gives me my soul."

Emotions are unpredictable, especially for women.
We're up and down, happy or sad, naughty or nice, laugh giggley at one minute or cry uncontrollably in another..
Harnessing the moon's energy, and aligining yourself within its forces
can be a unique way to make ourselves complete, and at one with the world.

For me, journaling through phases of the moon gives a unique insight into the relations of my inner self. evaluating the my rhythm over a period of time meansI can observe my strengths and prepare for my weaknesses.

Woman in the Moon

Can you see The Woman in the Moon in this photograph?

Her hair is formed by:

1. Sea of Serenity (Mare Serenitatis)
2. Sea of Tranquillity (Mare Tranquillitatis)
This "sea" was the location of the first human visit to the Moon. In 1969, Apollo 11 landed just in front of the lady's ear.
3. Sea of Fertility (Mare Fecunditatis)
4. Sea of Nectar (Mare Nectaris)

Did you know:
There are 68 craters on the Moon with female names. Of that number,
40 craters have common female names.
The remaining 28 craters honor women who have made significant contributions to humanity, many in the area of astronomy.

Rainbow Moonstone

"What is there in thee, Moon!
that thou shouldst move
My heart so potently?"

Keats' Endymion

Definition: Moon"stone`, n. (Min.) A nearly pellucid variety of feldspar, showing pearly or opaline reflections from within.

Reflections from within, reflecting the color of your soul, the whole spectrum of your inner colorful rainbow. I love the pearlescent mily , soft appearance which seems to vibrate a powerful energy.
The Moonstone Chakra is simply a beautiful piece of art, for me it is emitting its own unique pull once I looked upon it with close intent.
Moonstone's energies are soothing and nurturing and calming.
Moonstone's energies are feminine in nature, its subtle energies open and cleanse your heart, soothing and healing the mind, emotions, and body.

Moonstone is seen as a feminine influence, heightening intuition and psychic ability.
It can also help balance the male and female aspects of yourself. In India, moonstone is sacred, said to bring good fortune and is highly valued as a tool to promote spiritual enlightenment.

Moonstone,a mysterious gem, captivating as a full moon gleaming in the
night sky,a mesmerizing interplay of light causes a silvery-white sheen to glide like veils of mist across the milky
surface of this gem. The flickering light is known to be the moving spirit that dwellswithin the gem.
In the hauntingly beautiful Rainbow Moonstone, the milky
glow is flecked with lively sparks of red, orange, lavender,
green and blue, which dance across the surface of the stone.
It is said that its strong connection with the lunar movement makes the moonstone dim and regain color with the waning and waxing of the moon. Men often benefit from moonstone as it is said to help
open their feminine or spiritual side. This stone is
especially powerful for Women, the moon and its phases are closely related to a woman's menstrual cycle. With this gem is
believed to enhance fertility and help soothing and calming menstrual problems.

Indian lore holds that moonstone arouses the passion of lovers.
If placed beneath the tongue when the moon is full, a moonstone
is said to reveal what is fate is awaiting a romance.

My favourite piece of Moonstone Jewellery in this collection,
is an ancient bracelet, so beautiful, I simply love it.
