Ancient Fertility Goddess

Ancient Fertility Goddess

"Fertility Goddess hear my plea... ."

~According to Wikipedia "The fertility goddesses are the female deities to watch over and promote fertility, pregnancy, and birth in many polytheistic cultures.

~In some cases these deities were directly associated with sex, and in others they simply embodied related attributes. Some examples include Aphrodite in ancient Greece, Hathor in ancient Egypt, the Teutonic goddess Freyja, and Brigit in Ireland. Fertility gods are also present in many other cultures.

~Some archeological finds that have been proposed to be images of or associated with ancient fertility goddesses are Venus figurines such as the Venus of Willendorf"

~ Ancient Fertility Rites have included the honoring of fertility gods and goddesses in many ways and ceremonies.

~Fertility Goddess statues and carvings were often placed near the couples bed or on the family altar with suitable offerings that would ask the fertility goddess to work in their favour

~ It is amazing to see how many common archetypal forces are present in the fertility images of many different cultures all over the world and indeed the ancient religions and spiritualities

~ It is interesting to look at the many ways on how to invoke a fertility goddess, how to create a ceremony that is right for your particular situations

Goddesses of Love and Fertility

"The Goddess is first of all earth, the dark, nuturing mother who brings forth all life. She is the power of fertility and generation; the womb, and also the receptive tomb, the power of death. All proceeds from Her; all returns to Her. As earth, She is also plant life; trees, the herbs and grains that sustain life. She is the body, and the body is sacred."
