Fire, humans have always been fascinated with it. Since
very ancient days people have used flames to accompany prayers and rituals.
Dancing around the flames of an outdoor fire, singing and chanting to
invoke spirits, traditional ceremonies were fire played a central part.
With the arrival of candles, the power of fire could
be harnessed in a safe way, very useful for small indoor spaces. Candles
were lit and their light used to illuminate the altars of the Gods and
Goddesses, religions and spiritualities all over the world embrace the
magical powers of the flame.
When you use candle magic, you are initiating powerful
change in the Universe. As always one needs to be absolutely sure of ones
intention.
Burning a candle has something magical, emitting a light
that contains a powerful spiritual pull, I feel my unconcious recognising
a connection to the light, the universe, goddess or god, spirit.

How to Charge and Dress a Candle
Charging a candle brings my own energies and magickal desires into the candle.
The candle magics Charging ritual allows me to create a contact, a psychic link with the candle,
to mentally focus on my goal as well as physically touching the item that is to represent my goal.
* 1. I carve the name of my goal into the candle using a small sharp knife. The could be the representation of a person or event to happen.
* 2. To "dress" a candle I anoint it. I us pure olive oil or an essential oil or herb/oil infusion suitable for the nature of the goal.
* 3.I rub the oil onto the candle starting from the top of the candle to the base
(when the spell is about attracting things like love, health, money)
and from the base of the candle to the top when the spell is about banishing things( negative energies, influences, addictions, etc)
Types of Candles
There a usually different types of candles used for different spells and desired outcomes. The color, form and placement is important when candle magics are going to work.There are a wide variety of candles for magick available, here are the most common types

For everyday use I love
Pillar candles
as they come in a good range of colors and last well. This is especially useful for longer spells, with a burn time of up to 12 hours the quality and longlevity is essential for the spell to work.
YOu can also have a go at making your own pillar candles (tutorial below) and it is easy and fun to do.
Female and male shaped candles
are good for love spells, choose your shape in your favourite color and your desired mates representation in white.
Chakra candles
are useful for working with a holistic approach to our bodys, considering the opening and cleansing of all the chakras.

Candle Magics are some of my favourite magical rituals as they are easily accessible, can be as simple or as elaborate as one chooses and reward me with powerful results. I simply love the flame, the warmth and the energy that is emitted.
