The inital attraction of crystals often lies in their sheer beauty to the eye of the beholder, yet it is their energy has that has the most powerful impact on us.
If you find you cant resist touching a crystal, you want to wear crystals on your skin or you feel like placing gemstones in special places around your home, office or den, then crystals healings are at work and you are already intuitively aware of their power.
How to choose a crystal
I found I wanted to build up a collection of stones for different purposes as well as letting special crystals "choose me". I started out with a set of Chakra Healing Stones as I thought they came in a great little starter set, a good place to start when new to chakras and crystals healings. Plus I loved that little velvety pouch. How I choose a crystal LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT Often one stone will catch my eye and continue to hold my attention. I will check out the rest of the selection, even go away, yet the crystals image lingers in my mind, extending a certain pull. If I am open to it and consciously look out for it, I can sense it clearly and then I let intuition guide me. If unsure, I will close my eyes and think about what I need most at this present moment, guidance, help, clarity..then open my eyes and I will be drawn to the crystal that I need most.
UNEXPECTED CRYSTALS I look at a selection of chrystals, read some of the meanings, then think.. yes that would be a good one, sometimes I like the colour, connect to the description....when suddenly ,its the little one lying next to the one I fancy ,that makes itself known. I pick it up and feel a certain vibrating energy, sometimes my hands tingle and feel warm. This crystal then did not appeal to me on a visual level but got my attention by making me physically touch it. Crystals vibrate at their own frequency and sometimes I can sense the vibrations straight away. I once was visually attracted to a large selenite crystal and so really wanted it.. yet when I touched it it literally "send" me away.
CHOOSING FROM A WEBSITE
Opportunities for buying crystals in a shop or at a fair are rare. Often I feel the need to add stone to my collection or wish I had a crystal for a specific purpose. So with internet shopping this has become more and more possible. I love looking through pictures of crystals on a website and let their energy resonate with me from a distance. When choosing crystals on the internet, it is not possible to touch the crystal. So I trust my intuition, if I get excited looking at the picture and connect with the description ,I often get a powerful urge wanting to feel it and an inner knowing that this one wants to be found by me.
CRYSTALS AS A GIFT Crystal sometimes find you, when you are receiving them as a precious gift. And sometimes crystals are just the right gift for someone you think will need them... I look at a crystal, read its description and I think of a person almost instantly ,that would benefit from this crystals energies. I just know it needs to find its way to this persons heart. Some of my friends are not necessarily "into" crystals healings", but when receiving the crystal feel a certain connection, often unexplainable.. Maybe as little as a "feeling of comfort" emmiting from it, but this is enough for a first step. More will come if the time is right.
Crystals Healings work in mysterious ways, expect the unexpected. Quieten your mind, go with the flow and just trust your intuition to simply do what feels right.

How to cleanse a crystal
It is said that after acquiring a new stone or crystal, as well as after using it, you should cleanse it to remove any dirt and unwanted imprints.Simply rinsing under running water should cleanse any dirt and fingerprints off of it. ( be careful if your chosen crystal is watersoluble, then this is not advisable.) I found that it is even more important to cleanse the crystal of any energy impalances or any negative emotional energies that it may have absorbed. Because crystals and gemstones have a tendency to absorb strong emotional energies like stress, discomfort, fear etc removing these imbalances and help the stone restore it's own inner balance. After cleansing a crystal I felt it was truly mine to care for, like all its attention was being handed over to me.
There are several methods for cleansing crystals method 1 - Salt I found that the most recommended method was using salt. This is done by burying the crystal in either sea salt or submerged in a saline solution . A good recipe for a saline solution is ˝ cup sea salt to one gallon of water. However some people do not recommend the saline method as it can over time cause the crystal to dull and break down I use dry sea salt and leave the crystal in the salt for at least one day. Salt is a crystal in itself and needs to be wiped off after cleansing.
method 2 - Smudging
another method is to use the cleansing smoke of traditional purifying herbs or incense. This is called smudging.
You can smudge your crystals with frankincense, cedar, sandalwood, lavender, sweetgrass or powerful sage.
My absolute favourites is the Lavender /Sage
smudgestick combination, the smell alone is simply irresistable and leaves me and my crystals feeling really free..
method 3- Sun or Moon exposure This is another favourite method of mine, to expose my crystals in the full moon simply feels to me like a powerful way of energising myself and my surrounding crystals. I am lucky to have a private garden so that I can safely put my crystals outside for 24 hours to catch the sunlight during the day and the moonlight on a clear cloudless night. However if you dont have access to a private space outside, a window ledge will work fine too.
method 4- sound vibrations This one is a must,an absolutely amazing energy cleansing can be achieved using pure sound vibrations. There are different tools that can be used, tuning forks, a bell, a gong, singing bowls,etc. I place my crystal very close to my singing bowl and let it absorb the pure vibrations that literally "sing" when you use the bowl... such clarity of sound is mesmerising to my ears and you can feel the energy surrounding everything in earshot.
I find that using a combination of different cleansing methods works best . Cleansing my crystals are like little rituals towards preparing myself to accepting what the crystals have to offer me .

Crystal have a gentle but powerful energy which can help balance and heal psychological, emotional and physical ailments.
Imbalances of the energy field within and surrounding us are often the cause or contributing factor to illness and disease.
Crystals Healings help harmonise the emotions and help recover from difficult mental states. I often place a favourite crystal on my right brow and can immediately feel its soothing power. Crystals have their own vibrational energies which will work to remove any negativity from the energy field, both inside and outside the body. The different energy centers in the body , called chakras, can be opened through the use of appropriate crystals healings and repairs can then follow to areas where damage has been caused.
